Short answer: Published prices in 2026 run from $24–$29 per seat per month (SafetyCulture) and $35 per user per month (Blitzz VRA for Salesforce), to $109/month for a single-inspector report platform (Spectora) and $334/month billed annually for a 600-credit remote-inspection bundle (Blitzz Inspect). Enterprise remote-video vendors like TechSee and SightCall publish no price at all. Our own plans start at $149/month for 50 sessions. The number that actually matters is cost per completed inspection, not the sticker.

Compare like for like: three different product categories

The cheapest number in that table is not the cheapest answer to your problem. Three distinct categories get lumped together under "inspection software":

  • Checklist and audit apps (SafetyCulture) — cheap per seat because your own staff are on site doing the inspection. No remote participant, no live video call.
  • Report-writing platforms (Spectora) — priced per inspector, unlimited reports. Again, the inspector is physically present.
  • Remote video inspection platforms (Blitzz, TechSee, SightCall, VirtualInspection.ai) — the inspector stays put and the person on site is often a customer, contractor or homeowner. This is the only category that removes the trip.

If your goal is avoiding a drive, per-seat checklist pricing is not an alternative — it is a different job. Our comparison hub breaks the remote-video category down feature by feature.

Cost per inspection: the math at 25, 100 and 400 a month

Take each published price and divide by realistic monthly volume. This is where the ranking flips.

VolumeBlitzz Inspect ProfessionalSpectoraVirtualInspection.ai
25 / month$334/mo for 50/mo of credits → $13.36 each$109/mo, one inspector → $4.36 eachPro $149/mo → $5.96 each
100 / monthTwo bundles ≈ $668/mo → $6.68 each$109 + 2 extra inspectors ($198) = $307 → $3.07 eachPro $149 + 50 overage @ $3.00 = $299 → $2.99 each
400 / monthEight bundles ≈ $2,672/mo → $6.68 each$109 + 3 extra inspectors ($297) = $406 → $1.02 eachScale $999/mo → $2.50 each

Three things fall out of this table:

  • Credit bundles have a floor, not a curve. A fixed 600-credit block costs the same per inspection at 25/month as at 400/month — around $6.68 — unless you negotiate. That is the worst shape for a growing programme.
  • Per-inspector pricing gets cheap at volume — if the inspector is on site. $1.02 per report at 400/month is genuinely low, but it assumes four people driving to four hundred addresses. The drive is the cost you were trying to remove; at $150–$300 a trip, that dwarfs every software line in this article. See what a truck roll really costs.
  • Included volume plus overage tracks reality. At 100/month, staying on our Pro plan and paying overage ($299) is cheaper than jumping to Growth ($499). We publish the overage rate for exactly that reason — you should be able to do this arithmetic before you talk to sales.

Hidden costs buyers miss

  • Recording as an add-on. Blitzz lists call recording as an add-on to its Professional plan. If the recording is your evidence, it is not optional — price it in.
  • Security as an add-on. Same list: enterprise-grade security is priced separately. Ask whether SSO, audit logging and retention controls are in the base plan.
  • Per-report upcharges. Spectora's Advanced add-on is commonly reported at $3–4 per published inspection on top of the subscription. A "$109/month" platform is not $109/month at 60 reports.
  • Storage and retention. Video is heavy. Confirm the included retention window and the cost of long-term archive.
  • SMS and invite delivery. Some platforms pass messaging fees through per invite.
  • Integration work. Pushing reports into a CRM, claims system or ERP is where projects stall. Check whether the API and native connectors are included or a paid services engagement.
  • Onboarding friction. If field participants must install an app and create an account, expect real support cost every single month.
  • Unused seats and expiring credits. Both models bill you for capacity you did not use.

What to weigh alongside price

  • Evidence integrity. Can you prove a photo was taken then, there, and unaltered? Content credentials (C2PA), GPS and trusted timestamps are the difference between a photo and an exhibit.
  • Guest join with no install. Every app download is a percentage of sessions that never happen.
  • Retention control. Who can delete, for how long, and is it logged?
  • Attestations. Security review moves faster with existing coverage — see SOC 2 Type II and GDPR/CCPA.
  • Whether support sessions share the pool. If remote troubleshooting and formal inspections are billed separately, you buy twice.

Where we land

  • Pro — $149/mo, 50 sessions included, $3.00 per additional session.
  • Growth — $499/mo, 200 sessions included, $2.50 per additional session.
  • Scale — $999/mo, 500 sessions included, $2.00 per additional session.
  • Enterprise — custom, for 750+ sessions per month.

Sessions are shared across inspections and remote support, recording and verified capture are in the base plan rather than add-ons, and annual billing saves 15%. Full detail is on the pricing page, and the buyer's guide has the 12-point scoring rubric we would use if we were the ones buying.

How to size your plan

Count the visits per month that are diagnostic, verification, or "is it what they said it was" trips. Those are the ones a session replaces. Start at the tier covering 70–80% of that number, let the published overage rate handle peaks, and upgrade when the arithmetic says so — not before.

FAQ

How much does virtual inspection software cost?

Published 2026 prices range from $24–$29 per seat per month for checklist apps, $35 per user per month for video support inside Salesforce, $109 per month per inspector for report platforms, and $334 per month (billed annually, 600 credits) for a remote inspection bundle. Full remote-video platforms with included volume start around $149/month for 50 sessions. Enterprise vendors quote privately.

Is there free virtual inspection software?

SafetyCulture publishes a free tier for checklist-style inspections. For live remote video with verified evidence, free tiers are rare; trials are the norm — ours is 14 days with unlimited inspections and no card required.

What is a fair per-inspection price?

At mid volume, $2–$4 per completed session including recording, storage and the report is competitive. Above $6 you are usually paying for an unused credit bundle or add-ons that should have been in the base plan.

Should I pay per user or per inspection?

Per user works when the same small team runs high volume every month. Per inspection or included volume works when the person on camera is a customer or contractor, when volume is seasonal, or when usage is still ramping — which describes most remote inspection programmes in their first two years.

Do guests count toward cost?

On our plans, no. A session is a session regardless of how many people join it.
